I know I must look a walking contradiction, saying I wasn't a royalist in my Princess Anne post, but I had to put this up. It's the cover of the Sunday Times mag and I just loved their depiction of Her Maj. I actually think she looks really good here - and yes, I know she hasn't washed a dish in her life and lined up to collect her pension, but still think she looks great! I'll just go and cower in my corner now.

ReplyDeleteHow do you know that? It is know, that when she and Prince Philip lived in Malta, where Prince Philip was stationed with the Royal Navy, as the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh. It was a relatively ordinary life, away from the cameras and the onerous grind of official engagements. She managed the household and did the shopping.
It is also know, that when Margaret Thatcher visited the Queen at Balmoral she had to give the Queen a hand and dry the dishes.
The Queen is a down to earth woman and even learned to repair a car engine during WW II.
