Jaime Winstone wins in Holly Fulton at the Variety Club Awards

Without sounding mean or rude, I can give or take Jaime Winstone (although am desperate to see Made In Dagenham!), but last night at the Co-operative Variety Club Showbiz Awards she won hands down, for me anyway, when it came to Best Dressed - in her GORGEOUS Holly Fulton maxi dress.

I think out of all the London Fashion Week shows I attended, Holly's was my favourite (have a look at my coverage here). I'm such a huge fan of her art-deco prints, her colour choices and her oversized jewels, so much so that I have begged her PR to get her to venture into menswear! (to no avail, YET).

This particular dress makes up part of the Lulu & Co collection, exclusively available on www.matchesfashion.com. It can be yours for a snip at £225, or there is this more expensive design, costing £1,075. Love them both, however I can see why Jaime's choice would appeal more, a little less busy.

So, as New York fashion week nearly comes to a close (or climax!), and they make way for what our lovely capital has to offer, I feel it is my duty to report on what gowns have caught my fancy from the catwalks.

As you all probably know I LOVE a frock. There is something about a gorgeous woman in an equally gorgeous dress, preferably to the floor, that really pleases me. I think it's probably the romance of it, although it might be because I'm desperate to wear one myself... let's just stick to the romance maybe!

Anyway anyway anyway, here they are - the front runners!

I can't believe I haven't mentioned Jenny Packham yet. I should really dedicate a whole post to her but alas, this is it. She is one of Britain's most amazing exports this season (and hopefully this season only, I, for one, miss her!) as she takes her rather gorgeous gowns State side. The gentle sequins and beading to her synonymous floaty dresses just made practically the whole collection dream-like. Packham gave a nod back to the twenties and thirties with her exquisite detailing and draped fabrics. The colours seem to be immaterial to this collection, what you see first is the twinkling of the embellishment. In short, another perfect Packham potpourri.







'The Garden of Eden' was inspiration enough for Monique Lhuillier. The front of the collection was a mixture of gorgeous separates - high waisted red trousers, ruffle blouses, pretty strapless gowns decorated with painted flowers - but it was the back of Lhuillier spring summer that made my eyes pop. Evening wear is most definitely this lady's forte. If there's a frock to be worn on a red carpet, these are they. The nude bodice/red skirt gown was by far the best - the show piece. Romantically layered chiffon and organza graced the catwalk in one of the best shows for a good old BIG gown!

Emmys anyone??

I know there's probably been a million sites commenting on the Emmy's fashion, forgive my tardiness lovely reader, but I thought I'd have my little say anyway... tis the season for (once again) a fab frock and, dare I say it, some slightly... erm... uglier ones!

Here goes.

Toni Collette - my fashion winner in Valentino. Gorgeous cut, gorgeous print... gorgeous!

Lea Michele - does this girl EVER get it wrong? In her fav designer, Oscar de la Renta

Dianna Agron - another Glee-ite looking bleedin flawless! This is how to do doily-chic people... in Carolina Herrera

Jennifer Carpenter - Surely another best dressed. Wow to this one shouldered sparkly Oday Shakar

Bones star Emily Deschanel - purple is my fav colour, and this is why. A tiered Max Azria amazingness!

Emily Blunt - another leading lady who never goes wrong. Lilac is the perfect colour for Em, and Dior!

Kyra Sedgwick - more purple, this time simple yet elegant. Loving this Monique L'Hullier

Ma girl Kim - white Marchesa serves her well, don't you think? The drapes work wonders for her fab curves too

Kelly Osbourne - erm, Mrs. has never looked so good! Thinner than ever (not that that means fabulous) and gorgeous in Tony Ward couture

Bettie White - bless Bets! Love the swirly colours on her. Very understated Grandma-chic

Now for the eeek factor dresses:

Rutina Wesley - don't really understand her black and white number!

Naya Rivera - I love a ruche, but in this colour and fabric? Nope!

I love Heidi Klum and I love Marchesa, so why don't I love this? I think if it was longer, I'd prefer it. Shame

Glenn Close - teeny bit frump for me. Looks like it's about to fall down, and doesn't do much for her great figure!
